Michael Henning form Berkeley, California, often known as Megasoup on the radio, has died. He left the KALX community in shock. We are all in deep grief over this immense loss. One of the most considerate, hardworking, generous, and extremely knowledgeable DJs, volunteers, and music directors we have ever had the pleasure of working with at KALX, Michael joined the station in 2003. Numerous community members, coworkers, volunteers, students, other musicians, and DJs were impacted by Michael’s presence in their life.
Concerning Michael Henning
He has over 20 years of experience as a buyer at Berkeley’s Amoeba and is a world music expert. He had a strong commitment to preserving the unique and varied sound of KALX and encouraged DJs with a wide range of interests and backgrounds to broaden their skills. As a musician, Michael recorded songs under the names Selaroda (a solo project), Skyminds (a duo), and The Why Because (all available on Bandcamp). To the numerous members of this community of music enthusiasts, Michael meant a great deal. Please feel free to tell us about your memories of Michael. We have more tributes planned to honor our beloved Megasoup, so please stay tuned. From the KALX Family, with much love. Our thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones.
