Death; Daniel Coughlin Cleveland, OH, WJW Fox 8 veteran sports anchor and reporter has died

Daniel Francis Coughlin, an American sports anchor and reporter for WJW Fox 8 in Cleveland, has sadly died. According to his colleagues at Fox 8, veteran sports journalist Dan Coughlin has passed away with his family by his side. “With a very heavy heart, we announce the passing of our friend and colleague Dan Coughlin,” Fox 8 posted on its website. The company went on to say, “We have truly lost a legend and a great friend.”

Concerning Daniel Francis Coughlin

An American sports anchor and reporter for WJW Fox 8 in Cleveland, Daniel Francis Coughlin was also an author and a former sports writer for the Cleveland Plain Dealer. He was a member of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. After Coughlin was born in 1938, his family relocated to a new residence on the west side of Cleveland, close to St. Ignatius High School. Prior to that, they had been residing in the Collinwood neighborhood, which is located on the east side of Cleveland. After some time had passed, Coughlin’s family relocated once more to the suburban area of Lakewood, Ohio. It was there that he attended St. Edward High School and graduated in the year 1956. While serving in the United States Army, Coughlin was assigned to the First Armored Division for a period of two years.

His Legacy

Coughlin began his career as a sportswriter at the Plain Dealer, where he remained employed from 1964 until 1982. Since 1983, he has been employed with Fox 8, and his most recent position was as a contributor to the latter’s “Friday Night Touchdown” program. He was honored with a great number of accolades for his efforts in both print and television journalism throughout the course of his lengthy career covering sports in Cleveland. The Greater Cleveland Sports Hall of Fame inducted him into its hall of fame in the year 2017.
