Brian “Rat” Ratasiewicz of Wilmington, Delaware, Saint Mark’s High School baseball coach sadly passed away, and it is with a heavy heart that we relay the news of his passing. For a great number of people, Brian Ratasiewicz served as a guide, a coach, a family man, and a close friend. It is impossible for me to adequately convey the influence that he had on children, particularly on his students.

During his final day, “Rat” volunteered his time at Open House and then went to watch a Phillies game with his Saint Mark’s family. The majority of Saint Mark’s sporting events were announced by him, and he was also a member of the coaching staff for the baseball team. He was the voice of Saint Mark’s. Recently, he became a member of our Student Services team, claiming that it was his ideal work and that he felt like he had finally arrived at his “home.” It didn’t matter if he was in the parking lot, the cafeteria, or the study halls; “Rat” was cheerfully present everywhere he went.

Students will have access to guidance counsellors from Saint Mark’s and Sean’s House that will be ready to assist them throughout the week. Specifics on the funeral arrangements will be communicated as soon as they are made available.
