Kane Friesen Saskatchewan Death; Motorcycle rider reportedly died by suicide on Oct. 11

Kane “Insane” Friesen, a motorcycle stunt rider from Regina, Saskatchewan, passed away on Friday, October 11, 2024, he was 42 years old. He always had some life things going on but always thought of him as a fighter. Friesen was said to have died by suicide.

Kane “Insane” Friesen, who hails from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, began riding motorcycles at the age of 18. Following his graduation from high school, he exchanged his Ford Mustang for a ’98 Kawasaki Zx6R. He came to the realisation that he desired more than merely enjoying himself while riding and performing stunts in parking lots and on the streets after performing a few wheelies and driving the vehicle around the block backwards.

In the early summer of 2004, he resigned from his day job and began to pursue his aspiration of cycling for a livelihood. Since that time, it has made a swift ascent to the pinnacle of the sport, becoming one of its most prominent ambassadors and assisting in the legitimisation of the entire industry.

The inaugural Kawasaki factory-sponsored street stunt rider in North America and one of the few factory-sponsored stunt riders worldwide. He is the 2006 Regional XDL Stunt Riding Champion, in addition to numerous other national competition victories and podiums. He was also the featured rider on the popular Discovery Channel program “Stunt Junkies” for the Guinness Book World Record stoppie (also known as an endo or nose wheelie). The stoppie was radared at 137 mph on the front tire, with an approach speed of over 160 mph.

Furthermore, for more than three years, he was the most widely recognised streetbike freestyle rider in the world, frequently appearing on covers and being featured in national magazines, television shows, DVDs, websites, and advertisements for his numerous sponsors, including Monster Energy Kawasaki, Joe Rocket, LP USA, Odyssey Batteries, Pirelli Tires, GPR Stabilisers, and Vortex Racing.

Throughout the majority of his year, Kane was on the road, performing at live corporate and public events for his sponsors, inventing new tricks, competing in national contests, and filming advertisements, television programs, and any other necessary activities to further the beautiful sport of freestyle street extreme through his passion and life of riding.
