A 16-year-old boy was identified as the victim of a homicide in north Austin on Monday night, and Austin police have arrested another 16-year-old boy in connection with the incident. Police reported that they responded to numerous 911 calls in the 9100 block of Northgate Boulevard on Monday at approximately 8:20 p.m. According to the police, a few callers also reported that someone was wounded, and others reported hearing shots in the vicinity.
On Wednesday, the Austin Police Department announced that Ahsun Madison, 16, passed away as a result of the gunshot that occurred on Monday night. Officers discovered a victim with “obvious signs of trauma” upon their arrival at the scene, as per the APD. Police reported that despite the efforts of APD officers, EMS, and the Austin Fire Department to administer life-saving measures, the individual was ultimately declared deceased at 9:01 p.m. on the scene.
In a press release issued on Wednesday, the Atlanta Police Department (APD) disclosed that the suspect was a 16-year-old Hispanic male. He was apprehended and charged with first-degree homicide, as per the police. At present, his identity is being withheld from the public due to his juvenile status. According to APD, the suspect had been previously apprehended for his involvement in prior shootings and was currently out on parole.
The suspect fled the scene after shooting and killing Madison at an apartment complex, according to the APD. He was apprehended by the Austin Police Gang Detectives. According to APD, he was incarcerated at Gardner Betts Juvenile Centre for first-degree homicide.
The suspect had been involved in numerous shootings in the vicinity earlier this year, including the fourth homicide of 2024, which occurred on Jan. 8 in the 9300 block of Northgate Boulevard, according to the police. The 16-year-old was not the gunman in the Jan. 8 homicide, according to the APD. However, he was present during the incident.
