An 18-year-old suspect has been apprehended and accused by Arlington County police in connection with a single-vehicle collision that resulted in the death of one individual.
Brooks Bare, an 18-year-old resident of Arlington, Virginia, has been accused with DUI/involuntary manslaughter and refusal to submit to a breath or blood test, according to the police. He is currently being detained in the Arlington County Detention Facility without parole.
A single vehicle mishap was reported in the 2200 block of N. Harrison Street, and police responded to the scene at approximately 1:58 a.m. on Saturday morning. Upon their arrival, physicians promptly began providing assistance to a passenger who was suffering from life-threatening injuries. They transported him to a nearby hospital, where he was subsequently declared deceased. The individual in question has been identified as 19-year-old Nicholas Rados of Arlington.
According to the police, Bare, the driver of the vehicle, was travelling northbound on North Harrison Street when he collided with numerous parked, unoccupied vehicles on the side of the road, which caused the vehicle to overturn. Alcohol is suspected to have been a contributing factor in the collision, as indicated by the on-scene investigation.
There were five individuals in the vehicle at the time of the accident: the driver and four occupants. One passenger was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries and has since been discharged. The driver and the other two passengers were assessed by medical personnel at the scene.
