An off-duty NYPD officer was found dead at iTow Towing Inc., 5901 2nd Avenue, in Brooklyn. The fatal occurrence occurred within the car shop. First responders hurried to the scene, but the cop was pronounced deceased upon arrival. According to reports from the site, the cop died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities have since rushed the area, blocking off many blocks surrounding the scene. Crime scene investigators and detectives are combing the scene, which still has a considerable police presence.

As of now, the officer’s identify has not been revealed. Investigators are attempting to piece together the events that led to this terrible incident, but no other information has been made public.
