Paul Lowe, a freelance photographer who won multiple awards, passed away. He covered breaking news all around the world, including the fall of the Berlin Wall, Nelson Mandela’s release, the massacre in Rwanda, and the destruction of Grozny. It was in collaboration with the World Press Photo Foundation in Amsterdam that he was working on the development of an online instructional program for photographers working in underdeveloped countries. Sarajevo was his home and place of employment.
Paul made his name working as a photojournalist during the Balkans conflict in the 90s and later made his home in Sarajevo. He became the lead on the MA Photojournalism and Documentary course at LCC. His contributions as a photographer and his work with FOTOIST left a lasting impact on all those who had the privilege of knowing him.
