Charity-worker and former Shinty player and manager, from Portree, Isle of Skye, Scotland, Ross Cowie has passed away, he was affectionately known as The Colonel. He was the founder of Lucky2BHere. Ross was such a powerhouse and fabulous inspiration, helping to make communities safer and encouraging 000s of people to learn and talk about life saving CPR.
Ross was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, a genetic cardiac condition. At the age of 40, his father passed away on the badminton court. His aunt passed away at the age of 18, and his uncle, who played football for Scotland, also passed away at a young age. Ross experienced an abrupt cardiac arrest in December 2006. The ambulance that coincidentally passed by, the crew’s expertise, and the life-saving apparatus they possessed were the factors that ultimately preserved his life.
Ross subsequently founded Lucky2BHere with the intention of providing others with the same opportunity. Since then, it has had a profound impact on the Highlands and islands.
